A study carried out by Google brought new alerts about the Information Technology sector (OF) not Brazil. The report released on Wednesday, 31, highlights a shortage of professionals. The study estimates that by the year 2025 Brazil will have a deficit of around 530 thousand workers in the segment.
The problem arises precisely from the growing demand for technology and the lack of talent with experience to take on specific roles.. One of the points involves the training period for students in the area. According to the data, nearly 53 thousand IT professionals will graduate between 2021 e 2025.
Although, This is not enough to meet the projected demand for the market. According to the Association of Technology Companies (brassom), During this period the need for professionals will be 800 mil, far above the necessary training.
Most affected sectors
Still according to the Google study, The sectors most affected by the shortage would be Information Security, Artificial intelligence (IA), Cloud Architecture and IT Organization. For that, the research consulted startups, executives and professionals, identifying the main reasons behind the talent deficit situation.
They are:
- Lack of diversity and difficult access for black people and women in the market;
- Geographic limitations for people from distant areas of the country;
- Brazilian teaching is out of date with regard to logical thinking;
- Market that develops few senior professionals;
- International market with better conditions than the national one.
Another point would be the difficulty of young people in entering the IT job market.. This causes many recent graduates to give up and look for new areas of activity..
A risk to the economy
How IT shortages encompass different spheres, positions and segments, This ends up affecting the Brazilian economy as a whole. The report was carried out in partnership with the Brazilian Startup Association (Abstartups) and also points to risk for this niche of companies.
Many startups may be at risk of bankruptcy precisely because of a lack of trained IT professionals. The Google study points out that 92% of companies participating in the survey may be affected by this reality in the next two years.
Google spoke out warning about the impact that this data has on GDP growth (Gross Domestic Product) Brazilian. “The lack of digital skills in Brazil places it in third position among the G20 countries that most waste the opportunity to increase GDP”.
